Virgin Mobile have made quite an exciting announcement today, as they now have a Blackberry tariff!
Hoorah! Now Virgin are, like, grown-ups in the mobile network world!
The tariff is for the Blackberry 8520, and while I’m a bit more partial to the Curve 8900, the 8520 is newer, and as Virgin Mobile boast, was just voted Best Business Phone at the 2009 What Mobile awards.
A Blackberry Curve 8520 through Virgin will cost you anywhere from £20 to £35 for a lengthy 24 month contract, or £25 - £45 on a 18 month contract, and really, you do get quite a lot of mobile bang for your buck... er, quid.
For example on the 24 month long £20 tariff, you get 200 minutes, unlimited texts as well as unlimited Blackberry access and mobile internet access. Not bad, eh? Especially considering that the Curve 8520 is a pretty nifty phone. Between the sleek track pad and the dedicated media buttons, the 8520 was probably the best Blackberry choice for Virgin Mobile's first ever Blackberry tariff.
However, the one big bummer is that Virgin Mobile only support the Curve on GPRS, rather than EDGE like O2. Ah well. I guess when it comes to mobile networks and devices, you really can't have it all.
