The Polaroid 300 & i1038 Digital Camera

By Cate Sevilla

In 2008, when Polaroid announced that all instant film will cease production in 2009, the world freaked out.

Then, in 2009 when Polaroid announced at CES that they won’t stop producing instant film after all, and that oh-by-the-way Lady Gaga is our new creative director, the world freaked out, again.

And this past week, when I stopped by The Future Gallery to check out what Polaroid has to offer this Christmas, well, I freaked out. But mostly on the inside. One must keep up appearances, you know.

While there are some Polaroid goodies that I can’t yet share with you, the two  fabulous additions to the Polaroid family I can show you are the Polaroid 300, and the new digital camera, the Polaroid i1038.

The Polaroid 300

Instant film is back! This funky camera comes in blue, black, or red, and while the images aren’t the full size Polaroids from the days of yore, they’re still pretty damn cool.  (And the color in the film is really vivid, which I was quite impressed with.)

Available from John Lewis and FireBox for around £79, a 10 pack of instant film will cost you £12.99. (Not exactly a cheap hobby to have, but at least you can still buy it, eh?)

Perfect for teens or for going on holiday, this camera features a 2.36 LCD screen and 10 megapixels. This light weight digicam isn’t as “instant” as the Polaroid 300, but you can easily transfer your photos from your camera to your PC via USB.  Available in both silver or a pinky red, you’ll be able to buy this camera in September for around £49.
