Everyone loves Angry Birds. From the young to the old, the first few bars of the theme tune make everyone happy and the act of thrusting hot-tempered birds through wood, glass and cement in effort to knock over egg-stealing pigs thrills the masses. Who knew.
Angry Birds is everywhere - even space - and Rovio have expanded their winged empire from plush toys and keychains to PC games - and now, in an unexpected move, book publishing.
For the Bird loving kiddos out there there are now Doodle Books available that encourage your kids to not only colour, but doodle and draw whatever their little hearts desire.
For both the adults and kids who love Angry Birds, there's the new Angry Birds cookbook featuring egg recipes aplenty. Titled the Bad Piggies Egg Recipes, the egg-based recipes are actually quite delicious. The book is meant to be for families, although some of the recipes (like Hollandaise sauce) aren't exactly classic kid favourites, they'll no doubt love the illustrations and drawings, as well as recipes like the "Last Stand" burger.
I asked Rovio if they planned on doing a pork-based book, seeing as this book was all about eggs, and they seemed a bit horrified that I even asked. "We quite like the Piggies, we wouldn't want to eat them." So, I don't imagine there will be an Angry Birds Bad Piggies Roast book coming out anytime soon. (I decided against getting in to a vegetarian/vegan debate about the ethics of eating eggs instead of pork...)
A cookbook may not seem like a natural next-step for Rovio, but somehow, it works. Get yours at the Angry Birds Shop or at Firebox.com.
