I have to admit, when I first checked out Pop Candy's Twitter Comics, I nearly fell off of my chair from the intensity of my nerdgasm. It's pretty much the coolest thing I've seen in a very long time. The combination of the creativity of the comics and the over all hilarity of the Twitter entries - it's just genius.
My favorite comic entry?
"A sign at the DMV urges 'NO PROFANITY,' which seems like a particularly hard rule to follow when you're in this environment."
However, it's the Flash development behind the Twitter Comic that had me totally freaking out. I had never seen Flash used as it is in the Twitter Comics, and after talking to one of my Flash developer friends, I am even more impressed. Apparently the techy shit that makes Twitter Comic look so damn cool is called Papervision3D, which is an open source 3D engine for the Flash platform.
According to said Flash developer friend, Pop Candy's Twitter Comics isn't even that great of a showcase of what Papervision3D can do. For example, check out the website for WhiteVoid! Cool non? Like that? Try out the game Spider Raid!
While I may not be able to tell what a great example of Papervision3D is verses a mediocre one - I just can't get over how fucking cool it looks. I've already spent far too much time staring at the Twitter Comics.
They're colorful, smart, and funny, and it's things like this that are totally going to change the face of the web.
