There I was. Standing in line outside some technology industry shin-dig. And it happened.
The guy was looking right at me. I knew I knew him. And by the look on his face I knew that he knew me. But for the life of me I just couldn’t remember his name.
Until recently I’d have to say that this scenario was a truly rare one in my life. “Until recently” being the operative words in that sentence. It would seem that lately it’s all too familiar. I’m not sure whether to chalk it up ...

For once, the government has done something that I'm actually really excited about! According to The Metro, a new bill was passed yesterday that will give disadvantaged free home computers and internet broadband access. There will be 20,000 children initially chosen to participate in the program's trial period, and the grant will pay for the internet access for a year, a computer, software, and IT support for three years.

Kriss Bliss, who was ignorant to all things gamer until falling in love with one, discusses what happens when the geek-challenged shacks up with the ultimate gamer.
Kriss Bliss here with another installment of The Gamer Girlfriend. This one pays homage to the infinite wonders of gamer slang. Recently, I broke up with someone over e-mail. They didn't respond to the message and I was left wondering what to think. I told a friend about this, and she responded: "Check Facebook. Has he deleted you yet?".
He hadn't, but a week later, after we had exchanged a few more messages, I decided to focus on work and not open the most recent message he had sent, with its ominous subject line. But, I checked Facebook and lo and behold, I was one less friend. I knew we were done.

I meet some fantastic people working in the social and digital ‘space’. But every so often, a project crosses my path that’s so cool - I just have to talk about it.
I’ve been a follower of Postsecret for some years now (got the book, read the t-shirt and all that) – and the desire for similar arts-based community projects never seems to wane. There’s ‘Before I Die I Wa...

I think that many women would agree that there are a significant amount of books, guides and websites that are aimed at women in business that are actually pretty crap. They're either patronizing or bland, or too corporate and therefore ignore a major group of women who are either running smaller businesses or are simply self employed as a freelancer.

Aimed mostly at students, there are a growing number of options in the realm of mini-laptops, which I prefer to think of as laptots, because that's an adorable word. For example, if you do a search on Amazon for "mini-laptop", you come up with nearly t...

Michelle Obama is one cool lady - and now, ever since reading her blog entry over at Blogher, I find her even cooler.
Michelle wrote about her experiences at a national women's conference in Chicago, Illinois in a blog post called "Our Many Hats". In truth, it reads a little like one of Barack's speeches and is mainly a post to explain to "mommybloggers" that, as ...

It’s everywhere.
This US Presidential election – it’s everywhere.
From strolls along San Francisco’s Chrissy Field to to my daily gambol in Alta Plaza Park, debate and discourse on all matters political have trumped discussion about who won top score on last night’s Dancing with the Stars.

Don’t you just love it when you open an email and read something that makes you raise your eyebrows? This happened to me yesterday when my friend Alfie (co-founder of Moblog) sent me some info on a new project he’s running – a kind of quasi guerrilla/viral mobile stunt.
