Digital Makeover Mirrors: The End of Reality?

L'Oreal has come to the rescue to those of us who are in need of a make-over with...augmented reality! Apparently we've entered the future. Which, admittedly, might be better than playing with the makeup counter testers, and then, having stepped out of the blinding store lights, realizing that you look like a kid's makeover or Dale Winton

Five Mobile Apps We'd Love to See Developed

Mobile phone applications can seem quite annoying if you have, say, a Blackberry. I am an avid Blackberry user, but as I’m still not GPRS, thanks to T-Mobile not supporting the Edge network, using any sort of app almost seems pointless. However, after testing out and falling in love with the HTC Legend, I am now a bit of a a Droid Market tramp.

Twitter Wars: Magazines vs Bloggers

When fashion blogger Blair Hartley flicked through a copy of more! magazine that she’d found lying around at work last Friday, she was disappointed with what she saw. Frustrated to see a number of features centred around the theme of ‘Inside Men’s Minds’ and using what she saw as insulting stereotypes of both men and women, she vented her thoughts on Twitter later that day.

Twitter-Inspired Art from the Irkafirka Blog

How many people do you follow on Twitter, and how many strange things do they say each day? The network pulsates with streams of consciousness, and the daily observations of normal people who are funny, clever, silly or grumpy is what has inspired the Irkafirka blog.

Shanghai Tang's City Chic iPhone Application

Shanghai is a city that, a few weeks ago, I knew nearly nothing about. I know it’s a city in China. And I know that according to, eh, Wikipedia that it was originally a textiles and fishing town, and now it’s described as the “showpiece” for the world’s fastest growing economy. However, now I know that I’d love to visit the Brown Sugar bar in Zintiandi, Shanghai’s “nostalgic” area. I also know that I’d like to take a trip to Design Republic, which showcases a collection of intern...

Crazy in Love with the HTC Legend

People who get overly excited about mobile phones annoy me. Maybe it’s because I don’t like iPhones. Maybe it’s because I’m a hardcore Blackberry user. Or maybe it’s just because I don’t find phones nearly as exciting as swish laptops or pocket-sized HD video cameras.Or maybe it’s because I’d never used a HTC handset before now.

Hate Facebook? Stop Whining and Quit!

It's the end of the world as we know it! Where's Buffy?! She's averted several apocalypses (apocalypseé? apocalypso?) already. Cameron's behind this somehow, or Goldman-Sachs, I bet. Oh, wait—it's only Zuckerberg?

Why We're Intrigued by the P Series Sony Vaio

As annoyed as I get with pink, sparkly mobiles and Swarovski –ridden iPods, I have to admit that colourful laptops always catch my eye. Maybe it’s because I’m a woman. Or maybe it’s just because I’m sick and tired of black and grey gadgets. Maybe.I recently tested out one of those nifty looking Inspirion Mini 10 netbooks from Dell, and I have to admit I was rather disappointed. I chose the the white version, as sitting around with a...

Geek'n Rolla: Practical Advice for Entrepreneurs

This year’s Geek’n Rolla event, put on by the good folks at TechCrunch Europe, may not have seen as many arguments about women in tech as it did last year, but I found it to definitely be more...
