The Great British Sandwich: From Ham Boleyn to Sin

The Metro are continuing the trend of reporting on the fabulous world of 140 character, Twitter, and have a sweet little story on The Great British Sandwich. What is the GB Sandwich, you ask? Simply put, it's a massive, virtual sandwich where you - yes you! - can login and add your own clever layers.

Google Releases Picasa for Mac, and We Love It

Mac users don't have much by way of photo organizing programs. iPhoto dominates on the scene, and the other, lesser known, programs don't receive as much attention - both from Mac users and programmers. PC users, on the other hand, have so many choices for photo organizing programs that it can be a bit overwhelming. Many swear by Google's Picasa, and I never understood the fascination, until they released a Mac version this week.

Why Myspace Profiles 2.0 Are A Huge Privacy FAIL

Myspace used to be so cool, and then it just got...well, a bit tired. Despite being slightly boring since the Facebook boom, Myspace holds a special place in my heart. Therefore, I was quite pleased to find out that they now have a Profile 2.0 feature. Gone are the days of having to risk getting your profile hacked if you wanted to add some third party's code to use their Hawt Pimped-Out Myspace Backgroundz. Now you can change the layout of your page, what modules you want t...

iTunes Joins the DRM-Free Revolution, Goes 3G

iTunes Plus has bee around for awhile. It's a handy feature in the iTunes Store, but it didn't do much for the masses. iTunes Plus charged a slightly higher fee for DRM-free music, but only featured a small range of artists from specific labels. Apple and the record labels have finally made some changes and started trusting customers: the entire iTunes catalog is going DRM-free!

MacWorld 2009 Keynote Address: Apple Announces 3 New Products

This week is a very special week, where San Francisco plays host to MacWorld 2009. Not only is it a conference full of fun for any Mac nerd, but it is also the time of year when Apple announces new product releases. This year, they've made three announcements thus far - some dull and expected, and other shocking and exciting.

She's Geeky: An Un-Conference Connecting Generations of Geek Girls

Hello, my name is Kate and I'm a geek. I've been a geek my whole life - I geek out to literature, Doctor Who, punk rock, Web 2.0 stuff, gadgets (robots in particular) and the idea of passing on geekdom to younger generations. I was accurately (yet cruelly) labeled "geek" in the seventh grade. While this label seemed to be a social inhibitor throughout much of my young life, as I grew up into the geek woman I now am, I learned that to be geek is empowering. Someone, somewhere said...

A New Year & a Busy First Week in Tech

There have been a fair few things bubbling under the radar this past week, as people have been slowly switching back on and remembering that yes – we all have to go back to work. I’ve been playing with my goodies from the Mac Giving Tree, which was created by the lovely people at MacHeist. From Christmas Day onwards, this included a range of free software to trial, in...

The Britney Spears Twitter Account Has Been Hacked!

The world cried with Paris Hilton when her trusty Tmobile Sidekick was hacked a few years ago. We all felt Carrie Underwood's pain when her Myspace account was taken over by crazy hackers. We then all laughed and pointed when it happened to Lindsay Lohan's Myspace account because, well, she probably deserved it.

Tech Wish List for 2009

Switching off for Christmas was an interesting exercise for me this year. I normally work through it, staying in touch with all aspects of my online life from a social and business perspective. The past week or so though, has been an extremely sobering experience. For the first time, I could really see how futile some of the conversations going on around me were. This period of downtime, it would seem, has given me a sense of perspective – and it’s amazing how seriou...

The Keybag: Too Tacky, Too Geeky, But Absolutley Fantastic

I don't really *get* handbags. While there are some beautiful bags out there, I don't really understand why people will shell out thousands of dollars for a bag that can't even fit a laptop inside it. For me, a handbag needs to be functional. It needs to make sense. The straps have to be comfortable, it needs to have an easy access spot for my Blackberry, and I also would like to not have to take out a loan to be able to flippin' afford it.
