Way back when, a little birdie from Polariod told us that Lady Gaga would be making yet another big announcement after Christmas at CES – so, I’ve been pretty excited about seeing what Polaroid's Creative Director had in store for us.
After finally seeing the fruits of Lady Gaga and Polaroid's labor, I am incredibly impressed. And not just because I'm a rabid Gaga fan.
I’m sure we were all expecting a new Polaroid camera with spikes, bubbles or maybe even flames shooting out of it, but instead, Lady Gaga has introduced the Polaroid Grey Label, consisting of the GL20 Camera Glasses (OMG!!!) the GL10 Instant Printer and the GL30 Instant Digital Camera.
As we’ve already seen the Pogo printer, the GL10 is a bit more predictable of a product, however, the GL20 Camera Glasses blow my mind.
In the "Poker Face" video, we’ve seen Gaga sporting the video glasses which she made from iPod screens, and now we can all have similar glasses as the GL20 Camera Glasses can take both videos and photographs FROM YOUR FACE and then send them to your phone or any other Bluetooth enabled device (like the GL10) or connect up to your PC via USB.
The GL20 Instant Digital Camera is another sexy-ass product from Grey Label as it has both “instant”, traditional Polaroid-style photos, as well as digital photos which are displayed on a nifty pop-up screen. (SQUEE!)
Interestingly, Gaga noted that the Grey Label products work with any Bluetooth compatible device, and all phones...except the iPhone. Because it "just doesn't work". (I believe the word I'm looking for is LOL.) Gaga also explained that in the future, they’re working on creating a digital Polaroid camera that can also send your images to “Twitter, Facebook and other social media”.
Basically, it seems like Polaroid and their collaboration with Lady Gaga is paying off big time, as they’re not just treating her as the face of Polaroid, but as a true Creative Director and, as Gaga says, they’ve really let her “put my hands in there and design this shit myself”.
The Polaroid GL10 Instant Mobile Printer will hit stores in May, while the GL20 Camera Glasses and the GL30 Instant Digital Camera will be available later this year.
