Hed Kandi's "Pure Kandi" Headphones

By Cate Sevilla

Whether it’s sound quality, fashion, or simply not wanting to be that loser sharing their embarrassing playlist with the entire bus because they’re using those crappy white Apple earbuds - which headphones you choose to wear is a personal choice.

When buying a new pair of headphones, the things that matter to me most are sound quality (does my music sound “tinny”?), noise leakage (does everyone around me know I’m listening to Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory” on repeat?), appearance (do I look as awesome as this song is making me feel I do?) and portability (can I travel with these?). The first pair of headphones I’ve found in a while to tick all of these boxes is the Pure Kandi headphones from Hed Kandi.

With colours inspired by Jason Brook’s artwork, the way Pure Kandi headphones look is quite unique and they're also quite feminine without looking twee, or like they belong to a 12-year-old. Plus, they were made with women in mind (shock!) as the ultra-thin headband means you can wear the headphones with any hairstyle (if you like big hair like me, this is a plus). Even better, I found that the Pure Kandi headphones fold away really easily, and can survive being stored in the vast wilderness and unstable environment that is your handbag without lose their shape, or turning in to some scary tangle of cables that even a boy scout would struggle to dismantle.

Plus, did I mention they look really cool? I'm not a big fan of pink gadgets but there's something about the pink cable on the blue and pink Pure Kandi headphones that I find really awesome. Pink cables! On headphones!

They may not be noise canceling or 100%% leakage proof, but they’re of an extremely good quality for only costing £29.99. Plus, my music always sound superb on them, which when it comes to headphones, is what matters most.

I give them two big thumbs up.
