Organising your workspace may seem like a top procrastination tactic, but a clear desk could change the way you work for the better.
It may sound a little cheesy, but in most cases the more organised your workspace is, the less distracted you’ll be and the more you’ll get done in the long run.
This doesn’t have to mean Monica Gellar sorting techniques, obsessive tidying or splashing out on a lot of money, but thinking about what it is you need to change about the area around you.
The key is to give each element of your desk some attention and as most work places rely on technology, that’s your first consideration:
Cables
Wires and cables are essential to transfer files or charge up your favourite gadgets, but when you’re trying to do 100 things at once, it can be hard to keep track of what goes why without tying everything in knots.
Try these handy and bright cable tidies that won’t add to the clutter.
Cordies, $12.99 from Quirky.com.
Gadgets
If you’d prefer not to have your gadgets laid across your desk as they sit and charge, then try a device like the Bluelounge Refresh, fitted with lots of different connectors, it’ll keep everything in one place.

Blue Lounge Refresh, £69.99 from Firebox.
Storage
Due to laptop crises, it’s important to back-up your files regularly, or at least keep a few of the most important documents on a USB for safe keeping or transferring to other devices.
Choosing a USB stick can be a very personal experience, but here are two of few our favourites.

Robot USB Memory Stick, £28.95 from Pedlars.

USB Flash Drive Heroes, £21.49 from Firebox.
Just for fun
Various pieces of technology may play a big role in your work place, but why not inject a bit of traditional office fun into your day with these quirky and geeky takes on the hole punch and the stamp.

Heart Hole Punch, £10.99 from Firebox.

Like and Dislike Stamps, £9.99 from Firebox.
