At the incredibly young age of 19, Calgary's Eden Full has vowed to disrupt the solar science industry.
While most people her age are busy buying booze with fake IDs, catching STDs and spending their Friday nights crying to Taylor Swift on their iPhones, Full has created her own solar technology, the Sun Saluter, which has provided electricity for two villages in Kenya who never had electricity before.
Did I mention she’s only 19?
Full and her company Roseicollis Technologies won the Staples/Ashoka 5th Annual Youth Social Entrepreneur Competition, beating out three other young male entrepreneurs who, along with herself, were shortlisted out of hundreds of other entrants from more than 50 countries.
The competition was judged by the likes of Google’s Marissa Meyer and Microsoft’s Craig Mundie, and her prize is an “Around The World Learning Tour" provided by Ashoka’s Youth Ventures, as well as the opportunity to work with Ashoka Fellows and Staples associates to expand her venture around the world.
A 19-year-old female scientist and social entrepreneur who promises to disrupt her industry?
Eden Full, we bow down.
